Man Escalates Alleged Domestic Violence Situation With Threats, Firearm

Police take one man into custody in Grand Junction Monday afternoon,
after a domestic violence incident quickly escalates into a scene involving firearms and threats towards neighbors.

According to police and witness accounts, a neighbor of 21-year-old Nicholas Myers allegedly saw him assaulting a woman in his front yard and when the neighbor said something, Myers apparently went back into the residence, came back with a rifle and pointed it at the neighbor.

The neighbor then contacted the Grand Junction Police Department, who was dispatched to the 2400 block of Orchard Ave. immediately and once on the scene, police learned of the domestic violence incident and surrounded the house.

Police talked Myers into coming out of the residence without incident and was taken into custody around 6:30 p.m. Monday evening.

Although the investigation is on–going, a semi–automatic rifle with a 40–round magazine was confiscated along with some apparent drug paraphernalia.

Myers is looking at possible domestic violence as well as felony menacing charges.
