A Sign Of The Times: New Interstate Sign Plugs Local Agriculture

It's a first for Colorado-a highway sign plugging the area's agriculture.

The sign results from a bill authored by Grand Junction state representative Josh Penry to end years of wrangling between farmers and the Department of Transportation over roadside signs. The temporary measure allows for agriculturally significant sites to be noted, just like gas stations and restaurants already are. Palisade's Kokopelli Orchards is the first business to sign on to the program.
The owner says the signs should entice out-of-staters to stop and get a taste of the Grand Valley.

Kokopelli Orchards sells a variety of locally–grown products from nearly every orchard in Palisade.
