A man led Grand Junction Police on a fifteen minute foot chase Sunday morning through a neighborhood near Mesa State College.
The story begins when police received an anonymous tip concerning the whereabouts of a wanted man just after 10:00 a.m. The tipster told authorities that he believed 39 year old Raymond Salazar was staying at the Monument Inn at 1600 North Avenue.
When authorities tried to contact Salazar he fled through a motel room window. Six officers chased Salazar on foot through a neighborhood near 12th and Elm Streets. Authorities were able to detain Salazar after he got trapped in a yard. Authorities risked taking the pursuit because Salazar has outstanding warrants for failing to appear in court for drug and trespass violations. Salazar was booked at the Mesa County Jail and is facing new charges of obstructing police officers and resisting arrest.
