The sluggish economy is even taking a toll on potbellied pigs.
The Pigasus Pig Sanctuary was forced to cancel its annual Christmas open house because of the economy. The open house usually serves as a fund raiser for the sanctuary which is need of a lot of things according to those that run it. New cages are needed for the vet room and a new building to house the therapy tubs is also needed among other things.
The sanctuary has more than sixty pigs up for adoption. For $450
you can adopt a pig and care for it at your own home, or you can stop by Pigasus each week and spend time with the animal.

This year the sanctuary is working on a program to use the pigs as a companion therapy pet for children.
