Westbound lanes of I-70 are back open this morning after they were shut down for hours Friday night because of a spill.

Colorado State Patrol says just before 8:00 Friday night, a barrel containing mill lube fell off of a truck headed westbound on I-70 near De Beque. Another truck then hit that barrel, spilling its contents on to the roadway, before crashing into a guardrail.

Officials say the substance made the roads very slick, causing at least one more vehicle to slide off the road. As a result, troopers shut down westbound traffic near mile marker 62.

CDOT crews worked for nearly three hours to clean up the spill before the interstate was re-opened to traffic.

Officials say no one was seriously hurt as a result of the spill.
