Charges have been filed against a fraternity and a sorority at Utah State University in the hazing death of an eighteen-year-old freshman.

Documents filed in the case state Michael Starks and another pledge were abducted by sorority members, bound with duct tape and given vodka.

Starks passed out and died of alcohol poisoning later at the sorority house.

A medical report shows that Starks’ blood alcohol level was four times the legal limit.

“I think the message should be directed at those who are supposed to have authority and control over the circumstances. The message has to go to Utah State,” says George starks, Michael’s father.

Another source states that Starks was given the alcohol but not forced to drink it.
The prosecutor says the fraternity forced other pledges to undergo similar rituals and instigated the alleged abduction of Starks.

Utah’s hazing statute allows for charges to be filed even if the victim consented to the abuse as long as the person was younger than 21.
