A mother accused of giving birth to a healthy baby boy and then leaving the child in a closet to die will have one more week to enter a plea or a trial will be set.

Morgan Hite was in court Monday morning where her attorney's and prosecutors asked the judge for more time before entering into a plea deal.

Both sides say they need the time so they can talk more with Hite's family before entering into a plea deal.

Hite is facing first degree murder charges and child abuse resulting in death.

According to court documents, in February of 2008, Hite secretly gave birth to a baby boy in a neighbor's bathtub. Police say she then put him in a bag, walked to her parents north Grand Junction home and hid the baby in a closet. Her parent's found the infant's decomposing body two months later.

Hite remains behind bars on a $1 million bond.

She'll be back in court to enter her plea on Monday.
