Washington (AP) President-Elect Barack Obama will be holding a series of meetings with lawmakers on Capitol Hill today. He’ll be focusing on an ambitious economic stimulus package he wants passed quickly.

Obama plans to get together with lawmakers from both parties.

Over the weekend, he said without prompt action the economy could slide much further and the jobless rate could quickly hit double-digit levels.

He was hoping congress would give him something to sign the day He’s sworn in. But republicans are demanding time to look over details.
