In a historic move Wednesday evening television stations across the state all aired the same documentary at the same time.

Dani Corbin has been helping people from the other side of the phone line at Western Colorado 211 with all sorts of problems but Wednesday night most of those calls were about Methamphetamine. Corbin and many others at Western Colorado 211 stayed late Wednesday to field calls during and after the showing of the Child Help documentary “Crystal Darkness” about the methamphetamine battle raging in Colorado and the light at the end of a long dark tunnel for addicts.

Mesa County Commissioner Janet Rowland is featured in the documentary and she says Mesa County’s fight against meth seems to be working with great success with treatment programs and stepped up enforcement efforts. Rowland says, "this movie I think will share the hope to reinforce to people that treatment does work and people can get help. It's a difficult road and sometimes the individual has to hit rock bottom."

Rowland says she hopes this movie will prevent some people from trying methamphetamine and encourage those that already have to seek help, and for that Corbin will be standing by. Corbin says, "empowering people is what we do, we're giving them the information that's empowering them to move forward."

You can call the staff at Western Colorado 211 at 211 or 244–8400 from a cell phone.
