The Mesa County Suicide Prevention Coalition held the first ever Out of Darkness Community Walk.
The walk was held to raise awareness about suicide and suicide prevention. Every 18 minutes someone dies through suicide in the United States. The groups most affected by suicide are teens and those who work in the construction industry.
Gayle Berry, a former house district representative was the honorary chair for Saturday's walk. Berry says that suicide is preventable. The funds from the walk will benefit local projects, and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
