A handful of shoppers at Wal Mart in Grand Junction foiled a thief's attempt to snatch a purse Monday afternoon.
The Grand Junction Police Department was dispatched to the Rimrock Ave. Wal Mart shortly before 6:00 p.m. to respond to reports of a purse snatching and when they got there, they discovered the suspect had already been subdued.
"The gentleman took the purse out of a middle-aged woman's shopping cart, she hollered and about five shoppers jumped the suspect before he could leave the store," Sgt. Dave Oswalt of the Grand Junction Police Department said.
24-year-old Joseph Albert of Clifton was arrested on theft charges and Albert is also suspected of another purse snatching incident earlier Monday afternoon at the North Ave. Wal Mart, however, he has not been charged with that theft as of yet.
