A woman who has been on the run from the law is now behind bars, thanks to a collaborative effort from multiple agencies.
A $40,000 contempt of court warrant was issued for Ashley King's arrest on August 23rd. It all started when Mesa County deputies performed a traffic stop on a vehicle that was described as being driven by an acquaintance of King's. The driver, a wanted man from Montrose, was arrested on several outstanding warrants.
Leads developed from the traffic stop led authorities to Collbran, where King was found in a motor home. King was arrested on new charges including possession of prescription pills and methamphetamine. She was previously convicted for her involvement with the December 2005 gun battle between Sam Lincoln and the Mesa County Sheriff's Office.
