New CDOT Program Helps Disadvantaged Companies

Some disadvantaged companies took advantage of a town meeting Thursday evening in hopes of getting onto the road to success.

The Federal Highway Administration awarded the Colorado Department of Transportation a grant to fund the Business Opportunity Workforce Development Program. Colorado was one of six states in the country to receive the funding. The two year program will select 15 to 20 underutilized disadvantaged business enterprises that are in the highway and construction design industry. Most of these business's are owned by minorities or women. The program helps these companies to bid, win, and successfully participate in CDOT highway projects.

In October, CDOT will announce the companies that are chosen to participate in the BOWD Program.
