C-DOT To Look At I-70B Improvements

Video will be available shortly.

It's hard not to notice that traffic is increasing on I–70b, and it hasn't escaped the traffic engineers at the Colorado Department of Transportation either.

C-DOT, the City of Grand Junction and the Federal Highway Administration is beginning a study of roadway improvements between 24 Road and 15th Street in Grand Junction. Engineering studies show that highway use is above capacity, and the forecast is for the road to get even more crowded as additional businesses come to the area.

Hearings are scheduled to get input on what the public would like to see in a new and improved I-70b, including access to shopping centers and intersection improvements-including the notorious intersection at First Street and Grand Avenue.

Once the details are finalized the project is not expected to start until 2009.

C-DOT'S first public hearing will be at the First Congregational Church on 5th Street in Grand Junction on September 28th.
