A town hall meeting last night laid out proposals for how Palisade should look and grow in the future.
Town Manager Tim Sarno says the time is now to look at how to direct growth because the current plan is outdated. Planners presented three scenarios for growth in a three–mile area surrounding downtown. In addition to maintaining the status quo another plan calls for concentrating housing and business development within city limits, while a third proposal calls for development to be spread out.
Sarno says it will be necessary to find a way to accommodate growth while still holding on to the small-town charm that makes Palisade a great place to live.
Two things many people said are needed is a bigger grocery store and a hotel to house the many tourists attending the peach and wine festivals.
