High School Seatbelt Competition

We've all heard the saying click it or ticket, but now high school students district wide are taking the message to heart as they participate in a challenge to increase seat belt use among their schools.

Grand Junction High School, Fruita Monument High School and Central High School will be competing for four weeks to see which school can get the most students to start buckling up. Students have been promoting seat belt use through various activities. Last week an initial survey was done at each school to determine how many students aren't buckling up. Volunteers found that about 20% of students at each school weren't using their seatbelts.

Another survey will be done October fourth when the competition ends. The school that wins of course will receive a prize.
