Grand Junction Honors 9/11 Victims

Video will be available shortly.

In Grand Junction, a ceremony tradition that began after the 9/11 terror attacks continued on the fifth anniversary.

343 American flags decorated the lawn of Grand Junction Fire Station number one in honor of the fire fighters who perished in the Twin Towers in New York.

The Mesa State College Americorps Project puts on the annual service and with several speakers including Grand Junction Mayor Jim Doody, Mesa County Commissioner Tillie Bishop and music from the Sweet Adelines, the ceremony was to celebrate America but to also reflect on those who were lost.

With several dozen people in attendance, Americorps volunteers say Monday's turnout was the largest since the first anniversary of 9/11.
