Just before 7:30 Thursday evening, there were reports that a well known public figure had landed at Walker Field Airport. Several agencies, including the Grand Junction Police Department were enlisted to aid the secret service in closing down I – 70 and Horizon Drive, so that the Secret Service could escort the group safely out of the airport and onto the interstate.

Members of the Secret Service are being very hush hush about who they're escorting. According to authorities, the plane that the group was traveling in had to land at Walker Field because the plane is too large to land at any other local airport.

The Colorado State Patrol and the Secret Service escorted the group in a motorcade where they headed east on the Interstate 70. According to some reports, the motorcade of diplomats from the Middle East was traveling up to Aspen for a conference. Once the motorcade went through, the roads opened back up letting traffic through.

Both the Colorado State Patrol and the Grand Junction Police Department say they are not allowed to comment on the situation.
