Nearly 500 Grand Valley residents put on their walking shoes Saturday to help support the Western Slope chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.

Alzheimer's affects 63,000 Coloradans, and by the year 2050, that number is expected to double. The mission of Saturday's 12th Annual Memory Walk is to raise awareness about Alzheimer's Disease and to offer support and education to families who are affected.

The Alzheimer's Association hopes to raise 50,000 from the Memory Walk. All the proceeds will stay here on the Western Slope.
