Contractor Hired To Sweep Slide Site

Following a deadly rock slide on Interstate 70 over the weekend, CDOT has called upon a contractor to ensure safety along the roadway.

The Yenter company spent today moving in heavy equipment, including industrial drills and a large crane. On Tuesday the company will begin the process of blasting away the unstable layers of rock, but plan on using more than just drills or dynamite.

CDOT officials estimate that nearly 1,800 cubic yards of rock will have to be removed from the area of the slide that killed 53–year–old Grand Junction resident Patricia Bradshaw.
