Candidate Hillman Stops By Mesa State Classroom

Students enrolled in an introductory political science class at Mesa State College had a chance Tuesday to hear how politics work from an insider.

It wasn't a typical campaign stop as Colorado state treasurer candidate Mark Hillman told students more about the nature and meaning of politics and stayed away from what he's looking to accomplish as treasurer.

With a class of freshman, who most likely haven't had the opportunity to vote, Hillman said getting young voters interested in the democratic system is vital.

Hillman has been stopping throughout the Western Slope campaigning, but also said Tuesday's lecture was strictly for the student's benefit.
