Castle Rock, Colo. (AP) _ A man arrested in the gruesome
dragging death of a woman in Douglas County will appear in court
this afternoon.
Sheriff Dave Weaver said 36-year-old Jose Luis Rubi-Nava was being held on a first-degree murder charge in the death of the
still-unidentified woman. Her body was found Monday in a subdivision about 20 miles south of Denver.
The coroner's office said she died of asphyxiation and head injuries from he dragging. A tow rape was found around her neck. Investigators also found a photo showing rubi-nava with his right arm casually draped on the woman's shoulder. Rubi-nava was arrested in Glendale, an enclave in the city of Denver, last night.
Immigration spokesman Carl Rusnok said Rubi-Nava was believed to be an illegal immigrant from Mexico and they were trying to confirm his identity.
