The past two weeks, Grand Junction has been experiencing below normal temperatures. Thursday, the high temperature was only 57 degrees Fahrenheit. The average normal is 78 degrees Fahrenheit. This weekend, a storm passing through is expected to drop more snow in the higher elevations and mountain passes. An accident has closed Loveland Pass on the US 6, where there are also snowy and icy conditions. Chain requirements are in place for commercial vehicles through Vail Pass on I - 70.
