Cedaredge Man Shot In The Hand By Officer

Video will be available shortly.

A man who made a threatening motion towards authorities with a semi-automatic handgun is shot in the hand by Delta County Sheriff's Deputies.

Around 3:30 Sunday morning the Delta County Sheriff's Office responded to a call of domestic violence north of Cedaredge. The caller stated that 48 year old James Pryor was intoxicated and had a shotgun.

Officers contacted Pryor near Highway 65 and Cedar Street and could see the man was armed. Officers initially used less than lethal weapons to subdue the man, but were unsuccessful in their attempts. Pryor then made a threatening movement towards officers and was shot one time in the hand.

Pryor was taken to Delta Memorial Hospital and was later transferred to St. Mary's Hospital for surgery on his right hand. The Colorado Department of Investigation is conducting an investigation into the incident.

Pryor is being charged with attempted 1st degree assault and felony menacing. His bond is set at one million dollars.
