Supporters Of Referendum I Make Stop In Grand Junction

It's not marriage, it's basic legal rights. That's what supporters of Referendum I' say they want voters to know.

Members of the organization Coloradans For Fairness made a stop in Grand Junction hoping to educate voters about the referenda. The group says right now thousands of Colorado couples are denied basic legal protections. They're not guaranteed the right to see each other in the hospital to make medical decisions for each other or to make funeral arrangements. That's why supporters say Referendum I is the solution.

Those who oppose Referendum I say domestic partnerships diminish the significance of marriage, and they say domestic partnerships would get benefits that aren't extended to any other two unmarried people.
