Search For Fire Chief Suspended

The City of Grand Junction announced Thursday that the search for a new Fire Chief has been compromised and as a result is suspended pending further review.

According to officials, the recruitment process was compromised when one or more employees at the Fire Department received a list of all the applicants. The applicants have been informed of the improper disclosure and that the process has been suspended.

Interim City Manager David Varley and Interim Fire Chief Jim Bright say they are working together to address the situation and are in the process of determining the next steps to take.

According to city officials, hiring a permanent Fire Chief may be delayed until mid-December when the city hires a permanent City Manager.
