A coalition of advocates who represent families struggling to make ends meet met up in Grand Junction Thursday evening as part of a state wide listening tour.
The organizations are traveling to different parts of the state to listen to the needs of people in those communities. Some local groups, including Marillac Clinic and Homeward Bound of the Grand Valley, attended the tour to discuss the economic and social causes of poverty, and how it impacts the community.
Once the tour is concluded, the advocates plan on releasing a report in early December to the state legislators so that they can shape public policy that meets the needs of their constituents.
