Mesa County's proposed budget for 2007 is .7% less than last year's,
and county officials are chalking it up to a completely new budgeting process.
Mesa County is one of the first small governments in the nation to adopt the "Budget for Outcomes" process. According to the County's Administrator, instead of just looking at each department and adding and subtracting money for program changes. The innovative method will focus on four important questions designed to pinpoint how the county can divide resources to achieve results the community wants.
This year's proposed budget is a little over $146–Million. The budget will be up for approval the week of December 11. To view the proposed budget log onto to mesacounty.us.
