The idea for a whitewater park in Palisade began with great enthusiasm, but financial barriers put a different spin on the project. However, after months of careful planning and budgeting, the park is once again in a wave of optimism.
Those associated with the park unveiled an initiative Tuesday to gather public funds to help pay for the whitewater park. After pairing down the initial design plans, estimates to build are about $2.5M, about half of which has already been raised and with the project getting back on track, it's a welcome relief for those involved.
Bids for the first two phases of the project are due in late November.
