A major construction and renovation plan for St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction took a big step forward Tuesday night.
Grand Junction's Planning Commission approved the hospital's $260M master plan, which includes a 12–story patient care tower.
Hospital staff and planners unveiled the Century Plan Tuesday and those involved say the overall idea involves three principles: To improve overall care, adapt with a growing population and be able to accommodate current and emerging technologies.
The project is slated to begin by June of next year and by the time of its completion, staff numbers at the hospital will see drastic rise.
The project will also consist of nearly 500-thousand square feet of new space and hospital staff will go in front of city council to make a presentation in November.
