Authorities Lock Down School In Wake Of Trooper Shooting


Upon hearing news that a suspect involved in a shooting was on the loose Garfield re–2 school district decided to place all 8 of it's schools on non–emergent lockdown.

When students arrived at Coal Ridge High School near Silt they were taken into the gym and told about the shooting involving the Colorado State Patrol Trooper. The school door remained locked the entire day, and those who needed to enter the building were asked to call a number posted on the entrance.

During these non–emergent lockdowns, students continued with class as usual: however, were not allowed to leave.

All school buses were re–routed this morning. This is the first time that the re–2 school district has experienced a lock down situation
