A new postal inspector says being based in Grand Junction should help lower the incidence of postal thefts and fraud on the Western Slope.
The inspector will handle all mail theft investigations and work with other agencies in the investigation and prosecution of mail and identity theft, pornography, shipping of illegal drugs, money laundering and other serious offenses.
Inspector Gerald Kavanagh did not want to be photographed because of security concerns, but he hopes his presence will make a serious impact on postal crimes in parts of Colorado, Utah and Wyoming.
