More than 75 homeless veterans in the Grand Valley received help today at a "stand–down" for veterans.
At today's event the men and women were advised on how to get help from a variety of agencies, including the Mesa County Work Force Center and the Department of Veteran's Affairs. They were also able to get clothing donated by other veterans.
Sponsored in part by American Legion post 2700, one member says they are doing the best they can for the homeless veterans. But there are problems to overcome, including lack of transportation and mental illness.
This is the third stand–down for the homeless, but more are planned.
