A man is shot outside a bar in Montrose and later dies after being airlifted to St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction.
According to authorities with the Montrose Police Department, the victim was a 25 year old male from Mexico who has been living in the Montrose area for about a year.
Division Commander Gene Lillard with the Montrose Police Department said that an altercation started inside the Casa Allegra bar but later spilled outside where a number of shots were fired.
The victim was initially taken to Montrose Memorial Hospital but then airlifted to St. Mary's Hospital and pronounced dead. According to the Montrose Police Department the suspects fled the scene in what appeared to be a brown minivan.
No one has been taken into custody but the police are actively conducting interviews.
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation is assisting in the investigation.
