Burglar Pulls Knife, Victim Pulls Gun

Video will be available shortly.

A Grand Junction man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly breaking into a car, then causing a school lock down after fleeing the scene.

According to the Grand Junction Police Department, shortly after noon, 28-year-old Aaron Johnson was discovered breaking into a home-owners vehicle at Open Meadows Court. When confronted, Johnson reportedly pulled a knife and the victim in-turn got a gun and chased the burglar down the street. Johnson did cross over onto the property of nearby Chatfield Elementary School, which prompted a brief lock down. Police were able apprehend the suspect in less than five minutes.

Johnson faces numerous charges including first-degree burglary and possession of more than one gram of methamphetamine. Police say Johnson is also believed to be behind a number of unsolved burglary cases.
