Traffic was backed up on Interstate 70 this evening for more than two hours while crews worked to clean up an accident.

According to authorities, at about 4:30 p.m. a suburban towing a trailer was traveling west near Exit 42 when the driver hit the brakes too hard loosing control. The vehicle slid for more that 100 feet and rolled onto it's side blocking the right lane.

Colorado state patrol responded to the accident and called for back–ups when they learned what was inside the trailer, gasoline and generators.

A fire did not break out and the driver was not injured, he was however cited for failing to have break–away brakes.
