Fight Leads to Stabbing, Arrest

Officials say it was a bar fight over a woman that led to three arrests and a stabbing Wednesday night.

Grand Junction Police responded to the Corral Bar on Colorado Avenue to reports of a fight. When officers arrived they found two men and two women standing near a car, and a man bleeding from the face.

Police reports say that 22–year–old Chad Puga left the bar and got into his truck. He then apparently used his truck to ram into a car several times. That's when 26–year–old Shawn Burkett reportedly got out of the car, walked to the truck and stabbed Puga in the leg. He was taken to St. Mary's hospital for treatment and later arrested and released for not reporting an accident and fighting.

Burkett was arrested and jailed on charges of 2nd degree assault, menacing, disorderly conduct and other charges. 38–year–old Dawna Savage was also arrested and jailed on an outstanding warrant.
