Heading into Grand Junction from the Redlands may be slow going for the next few months.
Construction will begin on Tuesday on the Highway 340 bridges over the railroad. Traffic will be reduced to one lane eastbound heading into the city and two lanes westbound.
The work will involve extending the bridges 100 hundred feet to the west and will continue for the next ten months.
The Grand Junction Public Works Department suggests the Redlands Parkway or the Interstate 70 business loop as alternative routes.
