Chunks of concrete crashed onto Interstate 70 this morning after a truck's tall load slammed into a bridge.
Just before nine Monday morning an east–bound tractor–trailer truck reportedly carrying a piece of construction equipment hit the underside of the bridge at 25 Road and did not stop.
Grand Junction Police Department officers closed 25 Road at the bridge for more than a half hour, and Interstate 70's eastbound lanes were also closed so crews could chip loose concrete from the damaged area.
It was determined that no structural damage was done and the bridge was re–opened just after 9:30AM.
As of Monday evening investigators have some leads but the driver of the tractor–trailer has not been located.
