Suit To Keep Polls Open Denied

A lawsuit against the City and County of Denver asking to keep voting centers open two extra hours due to computer glitches was denied.

The decision was made around 3 p.m. Tuesday by Judge Sheila Rappaport following a nearly three-hour hearing.

The suit, brought forth by the Colorado Democratic Party, argued that technical problems with electronic voting machines was causing some voters to leave polling centers out of frustration without casting their ballot.

The Republican Party stated the extension was not warranted because anyone in line by 7 p.m. will get to vote no matter how long it takes.

Centers throughout Colorado have experienced problems with the electronic voting machines, including Montrose County, where long lines and provisional ballots have caused a large wave of frustration.
