Non-profits Talk Turkey For Holiday Season

Video will be available shortly.

It's time to talk turkey, and the Salvation Army and Western Slope Food Bank of the Rockies are doing the talking.

Both non–profits are looking for donations to be used to feed the less fortunate as the holidays approach. The food bank needs 150 of the birds to pass on to other groups, and the Salvation Army needs another one–hundred for their annual Thanksgiving lunch.

Salvation Army Major Stella Parker says the right words said while you're shopping could bring big dividends. She says both groups need birds of 20 pounds or more, and grocers often have those birds on sale at a big discount. Store managers will sometimes donate an extra bird if you say you are purchasing the turkeys for the Western Slope Food Bank of the Rockies or the Salvation Army.

Donations can be dropped off at the Salvation Army on Fourth Street north pf North Avenue from 8AM to 5PM Monday through Friday.
For drop–off information at the Western Slope Food Bank of the Rockies call 877– 953– 3937.
