A bike rider was killed early Saturday morning along US Highway 6. The Colorado State Patrol responded to the scene just after six this morning.
According to the Colorado State Patrol, the cyclist was riding in the eastbound lane of US Highway 6 when the male rider, whose identity has not been released, was hit by a Chevy pick up traveling in the same lane. The bicycle came to rest off the southbound lane after being thrown from the bike.
Authorities with the Colorado State Patrol says that the cyclist did not have reflective tape on his bicycle but was traveling correctly on the roadway.
The Mesa County Coroner's Office pronounced the rider dead at the scene. Alcohol or drugs are not believed to be involved in the crash.
