Construction on many Grand Junction roadways has caused closures, detours and headaches for some drivers. Many of the detours have been a result of the Riverside Parkway Project which when completed, will be the largest capital improvement project the city has ever undertaken.
We've all been there, trying to get around town and ending up in your car for longer than you hoped because of a detour or a backup. And some of the drivers we spoke with say traffic is only getting worse.
Grand Junction drivers seem to agree as the number of people moving to our area continues to grow, there is an obvious increase in the number of cars on the road. What seems to be making it worse, road closures and detours. Even with signs that progress is being made on the riverside parkway restrictions on major roadways is causing backups. But transportation officials say work is being done to minimize the inconvenience to drivers.
