Winds gusting to 40 miles per hour ripped the roof off a local Grand Junction business Tuesday.
The metal roof of a storage shed for Peachtree True Value on North Avenue ripped from the building at about 12:30 today. Pieces of the structure flew nearly 100 feet onto the west–bound lanes of busy I–70B, shutting it down for about 45 minutes so workers could clear debris from the roadway. The business owner was philosophical about the loss, saying it was fortunate that the debris did not damage any passersby. She estimates about 30–thousand dollars in damages to the building.
