Palisade's board of trustees completed a grant application Tuesday, hoping to take another step in making the dream of a whitewater park in the town a reality.
The grant, which would come from the Colorado Water Conservation Board, would provide an additional $100,000 in funds, meaning that the town would have to raise just $30-40,000 more to reach its goal.
With a price tag of more than $1M, park backers say this grant could provide a big boost for a project that has seen its ups and downs.
Bids for the project are set to go out in the near future and the town should have a better idea if the project is still a go by the end of the year.
