Hitchcock Would Love It: Birds Invade Grand Junction

Video will be available shortly.

Much to the dismay of the City of Grand Junction birds of a feather do indeed flock together.

Though it isn't unusual for flocks of starlings to roost in the downtown area, this year a much larger–than–normal number of the shrill–sounding invaders are finding downtown the place to be. City officials say pedestrians find the chance of aerial bombardment disturbing and the possibility of disease is not unheard of, so Parks and Recreation workers are taking the offensive. Tonight workers will fan out across downtown with lights and noisemakers in an effort to drive the birds to a more suitable area.

Tonight's offensive is the second attempt to drive the birds away, and will continue again next week. By then officials hope the birds will have found another place to call home.
