A Grand Junction ambulance now carries the name of a talkative and caring young person whose life ended too soon.
Megan Voorhees was killed in a motorcycle accident on Highway 6 and 50 near 21 Road as the Emergency Medical Technician was returning home from training.
Today in a ceremony at Fire Station number one an ambulance is unveiled that carries a memorial to the young woman, who fellow workers say was always upbeat. Fellow EMT's say this memorial, a small inscription on the side of an ambulance, brings notice to people who rarely get any recognition.
This is the second honor for the young woman. For the first time ever the Colorado Department of Transportation earlier this year permitted a motorcyclist–oriented message to be erected on a roadside not far from where she lost her life in October of 2005.
