A film crew with Animal Planet was in Grand Junction yesterday interviewing one of our own.
11 News Reporter Aaron Luna is being featured on Animal Planet’s "Untamed and Uncut".
You may remember back in December of 2008 Aaron was out on a story about a dog that fell into a lake.
It was a dramatic scene as the owner tried to save his dog and was arrested.
Aaron was the only reporter there with a camera rolling.
The frantic owner called 911 after his dog fell through the ice near the Riverside Trail at 321/2 and d1/2 Roads.
When Clifton Fire and the Mesa County Sheriff's Office got there they found the pet’s owners very upset and as they waited for the Grand Junction Fire Department's Water Rescue Team the dog’s owner swore at officials on scene for not trying to save his dog.
He then made a mad dash for the water in an attempt to do it himself.
A sheriff's deputy tackled him, sending all of them into the icy water.
As the man was led away in handcuffs rescue crews arrived on scene.
Moments later the dog was rescued but not before it bit its rescuer on the hand.
We posted the raw video to our Web channel and got thousands of hits on it.
That's how it drew Animal Planet's attention.
Animal Planet plans to talk to the dog's owner for the story as well.
No word on when the piece will run but we'll keep you posted.
You can watch the raw video here, however, the audio is very explicit and not for all viewers.
