Riverside Parkway Closer to Completion

Video will be available shortly.

Years of planning became a reality today as phase one of the Riverside Parkway opened to the public. The new stretch is nearly three miles long, starting at ninth and Struthers.

The Riverside Parkway adds many new amenities including sidewalk and street lights, underground utilities, and storm drains. The completed parkway is set to offer even bigger benefits, including less traffic around town, safer railroad crossings, and a new commercial vehicle route around downtown and Interstate 70-B. Today these hopes came closer to reality.

"So many people have put in a lot of hard work to get this project done. I think its going to make a huge impact on the community. Its just really nice to be a part of the project," says Riverside Parkway Project Engineer, Paul Jagim.

Construction is underway on both phase 2 and 3. The entire project is expected to be completed by the fall of 2008.
