More people in the Grand Valley are letting someone else do the driving as bus ridership on Grand Valley Transit continues to increase. The Mesa County
Board of Commissioners is trying to help that need.
On Monday, the commissioners approved the purchase of a lightly–used $120,000 bus. Since Mesa State College is building new soccer fields the transfer station at the corner of 12th Street and Orchard Avenue must close. That means a new transfer station is needed, and the commissioners approved a lease on a temporary location on South Avenue between 8th and 9th Streets.
The new transfer point will be open by the end of 2006. This is part of the restructuring going on as Laidlaw Transportation Services takes over mass transit service in the Grand Valley.
